Beginnings, Part One

I’m a Wisconsin girl, born and bred in the land of cheese. My life was pretty normal, besides being homeschooled and spending days ankle deep in muddy swamps looking at bugs. After graduating from the world, I narrowed my world down into the restrictions of academia. College was both an amazing and frustrating experience. I loved learning (the subjects I liked), but hated the hoops I had to jump through (can we say speech class?). I felt college was a game, manipulating professors was the most effective grade booster, not actual intelligence. After two years I was ready to drop out, but chemistry got me through all four, and I graduated with a $40,000 piece of paper. Now none of that matters, my most precious ‘belongings’ are my family, my husband of nearly 3(!) years, my crazy little boy, and my sweet baby girl.
